Materials For the Arts Field Trip

On April 31st, Professor Caroline Voagen Nelson and Professor Carlos Sanvodal organized a field trip for CT and Sculpture students to visit Materials For The Arts! This non-for-profit organization is a treasure trove resource for acquiring creative materials!

CT Student Tyler Wilson will be expanding on her costume and fashion design projects and has already begun brainstorming artwork she’ll be developing over the summer. You can learn about her experience on the field trip here.

MFTA is New York City’s creative reuse center supporting the arts. A program of the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs with support from the Department of Education and Friends of Materials for the Arts, their warehouse connects and inspires local students, teachers, artists, and nonprofits to imagine a more creative and sustainable future. These items are made available, free of charge, to NYC public schools, City Agencies, and nonprofits with arts programming within the five boroughs of NYC.
